Get Ready for St Margaret's Hospice's Wear it Yellow 2024: Bigger, Bolder, and Brighter!
St Margaret's Hospice is thrilled to announce the return of its much-loved annual Wear it Yellow campaign for 2024, and this year promises to be the most vibrant yet!
From Monday, 7 October to Sunday, 13 October, the charity will once again transform Somerset into a sea of yellow during Hospice Care Week, for us all to celebrate hospice care nationwide. St Margaret's invites schools, workplaces, and supporters from all corners of Somerset to join primary and secondary schools, Brownie groups and local offices, in the fun and show their support for their local hospice.
This year, Hospice Care Week shines a spotlight on the incredible work undertaken by the retail and fundraising teams in order to keep hospice carefree and available for those who need it. Hospices are increasingly dependent on the generosity of their communities through fundraising activities like Wear it Yellow and second-hand shops to keep their doors open and continue providing essential end-of-life care.
This year, as we Wear it Yellow to celebrate the incredible work of hospice fundraising and retail teams, we are also highlighting reality: hospices across the nation are raising more money from selling second-hand goods than they receive in government funding. This Hospice Care Week, we need your help to send a powerful message to Westminster: something has to change. Join us in wearing yellow and supporting the future of hospice care.
There are endless ways to get involved in Wear it Yellow 2024! Whether you’re decking out your office in yellow, showcasing your brightest yellow attire, or hosting a lemon-themed bake-off, the possibilities are endless. It’s all about creativity, community, and having a blast while supporting a cause that touches so many lives.
To help you get started, St Margaret's is offering free fundraising packs filled with ideas and resources. Visit our website to grab yours, stop by one of our 31 charity shops across Somerset to pick up a yellow outfit, and get ready to have fun while making a difference, you can even book in a visit from our mascot, Busy Bee. Wear it Yellow is the perfect blend of community spirit and fundraising fun—everyone’s a winner!
Kerry Baillie, Community Partnerships Manager at St Margaret's Hospice, shared her excitement: "We're buzzing for Wear it Yellow this year! We can’t wait to see our community come together to wear yellow, get creative, and turn Somerset yellow in support of hospice care. Don’t forget to share your photos on social media using the hashtag #WearItYellow—we want to see Somerset shining bright!"
Sponsored by Yellow Peach, St Margaret's is setting an ambitious goal to raise £10,000 through the Wear it Yellow campaign. Throughout the week, staff and volunteers will be hitting the streets of Somerset, dressed in yellow, to collect donations and spread the word about the importance of hospice care.
