Cultivating Connections

With a focus on projects in Yeovil and South Somerset, it will be a chance to strengthen connections, and discuss ways we engage - with volunteers, service users, communities, as well as statutory & wider organisations.
This is a free event for those involved / interested in community food initiatives.

Short talks:
Joe Knights: hear about Yeovil's network of growing and green spaces and the supportive work of the South Somerset Environment Forum, which connects projects, shares expertise and organises work parties, which includes the skilled scythers from Able2Achieve.
Sue Wheeler, Yeovil Town Council: with news on the Yeovil Allotments 'refresh' and the emergence of a local Growing Hub.
James Landamore, Spark Somerset: will briefly update us on how Somerset's Vision for Volunteering is shaping up, research insights and also how 'Spark a Change' can be used to match volunteers to your food project.

Plus, practical activities:
Chop & chat - help cook up our seasonal soup and pud - share tips and ideas, guided by Kim Robinson, an amazing community cook and one of our trustees.
Save & swap seeds - learn tips on saving and storing seeds with Jane Sweetman from Wild Roots, bring seeds to sort and share.
Grow micro-greens - decorate and plant up a windowsill garden from recycled materials - a great gardening idea for children, with Lara Honnor from Skool Beanz.
Scything demo -learn the basics of scythe assembly and technique with Able2Achieve.
