Duet for One is - possibly - based on the life of conductor Daniel Barenboim and his wife, cellist Jacqueline du Pré, although Tom Kempinski has stated that the subject of the play was a cathartic exploration of his own anxieties.

Stephanie Anderson (played in our production by Sarah Nias) is a world-famous violinist who has lost the ability to play and must redefine her relationships with her husband, her accompanist, her star pupil and her manager.

She sees Dr. Louis Feldman (played by Mark Payne) for help, but as much as he tries, he can't help her with the rage she feels.

The play, directed with sensitivity and insight by Robert Graydon, explores the interrelationship of two people facing up to circumstances and emotions entirely outside their control.
