Film Screening- A Man From The Sun

To mark the 75th anniversary of the HMT Empire Windrush arriving in Britain on 22 June 1948 and to celebrate the contribution of the Windrush generation today, Somerset African Caribbean Network and Somerset Film present ‘A Man From the Sun’.

Originally broadcast in 1956, this ground-breaking docudrama explores the experiences of the then 75,000 West Indians who had newly settled in Britain, and the disparity they found between the mythical country and the real one. Directed by John Elliot, it stars Errol John and Cy Grant and includes music from calypso guitarist Fitzroy Coleman.
