Come and join us in pulling up Himalayan balsam at Ninesprings on the Dodham Brook.
More Information (Radio Ninesprings is not responsible for external websites)
Join YRCT to help pull invasive himalyan balsam from an area of Dodham Brook which runs through Ninesprings park in Yeovil.
Himalayan balsam is an invasive non native that out competes with our native plant life. When it dies back in the winter it leaves exposed banks, making them more vulnerable to erosion.
Pulling the balsam helps to minimise bank erosion by ensuring good coverage of native plants which with help bind the banks with their roots in the winter months.
During the workday, some of the volunteers can enter the channel in waders (subject to safe water levels) and enjoy a paddle in the Dodham. There's also plenty to do for those who would rather stay on the bank side!
Sturdy footwear and covered arms and legs are essential for this task. If you have gloves, please bring them.
We will meet next to Ninesprings Cafe
