The Battle of the Beams

Relying on first-hand accounts, as well as papers recently released by the Admiralty, The Battle of the Beams fills a huge missing piece in the canon of World War Two literature.

It combines history, science, daring and dogged determination and will appeal as much to fans of WW2 history as to those fascinated by the science behind the beams that changed our lives.

In celebration of British Science Week, join Author Tom Whipple as he explores this topic through his book, The Battle of The Beams: The Secret Science of Radar that turned the tide of the Second World.

This event will be taking place on Friday 15 March 2024. Doors will open at 7 pm, with the event starting at 7.30 pm.

As this event is taking place outside of normal museum opening hours, access to the wider museum will be limited.

The 'early bird' ticket price is available until 18 February 2024. From 19 February 2024, the ticket price will be £15 per person. Tickets are available to purchase online and directly from the Fleet Air Arm Museum ticket box.

Tickets include light refreshments (tea and coffee).
