UN Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

Yeovil Soroptimists participate in a global campaign to Orange the World, supporting this critical UN special Day.

We join groups around the world to raise awareness and denounce all forms of violence against women and girls.

The colour orange is the UN choice to mark the event, representing a brighter future for women victims of abuse and survivors. We will have posters and information in the library, the Art Space, and in many shops and libraries across the town, as well as in surrounding towns and villages. The shoe in each display represents the life of one woman killed in domestic homicide annually in the UK. Many female suicides have been connected to Domestic Violence.
