A film of the Yeovil Live Aid concert is being shown for the first time in 40 years at the Quicksilver Mail in Yeovil.
Forty years ago this month, 17 bands came together to play live in Yeovil to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia...
Yeovil Live Aid was held at the Johnson Hall - now the Octagon theatre - on Saturday, August 30th 1985, with three-and-a-half thousand pounds raised for Bob Geldof’s Live Aid charity.
A film was made of the concert, which is now being shown for the first time in 40 years at the Quicksilver Mail pub in Yeovil on Thursday, August 28. Band members who took part in Yeovil Live Aid and their families are invited.
The bands that played and are featured in the film include:
Rave from the Grave
The Chesterfields
Daylight Robbery
Destiny
Preston Swing Band
High Profile
Reflections
and New Direction.
If you played in one of those bands or you know someone who did, please call the organiser of the film night, Bud Budzynski, as he would like as many band members from 1985 to attend the film showing as possible.
The number for Bud is: 07715 842801. Alternatively, call Radio Ninesprings on 01935 319000, and we’ll pass on your details to Bud for him to get in touch with you.
