Numatic in Chard has begun demolishing buildings on the former Oscar Mayer site. The makers of the Henry vacuum cleaner bought the former ready meals factory in May after Oscar Mayer moved production out of Chard. Numatic says it’s investing £30 million in creating a new production facility to make the full range of Henry vacuum cleaners at the site on Furnham Road.

The leader of Somerset County Council says it's imperative they fill roles in the care sector in the County. The council’s launched an urgent appeal asking people to fill care vacancies in the midst of a national staffing crisis. Meanwhile, research by the Carers’ Centre shows 80% of unpaid carers don’t ask for help even though they might need it. They're encouraging people in a caring role to ask for support more often.
