Numatic in Chard has begun demolishing buildings on the former Oscar Mayer site. The makers of the Henry vacuum cleaner bought the former ready meals factory in May after Oscar Mayer moved production out of Chard. Numatic says it’s investing £30 million in creating a new production facility to make the full range of Henry vacuum cleaners at the site on Furnham Road.

The council’s launched an urgent appeal asking people to fill care vacancies in the midst of a national staffing crisis. Meanwhile, research by the Carers’ Centre shows 80% of unpaid carers don’t ask for help even though they might need it. They're encouraging people in a caring role to ask for support more often.
A former resident of Ilton has been jailed after pleading guilty to numerous assault charges. Appearing at Exeter Crown Court. Jack Reid, was sentenced to three years on two counts of causing actual bodily harm, two of criminal damage, and one of threatening behavior.
