A new banking hub has opened in Crewkerne and is located within Crewkerne Town Hall. It's open weekdays 9 am to 5 pm for cash withdrawals and deposits. Bank representatives are available in person to speak with customers, Monday to Thursday. The opening was performed by local MP, Adam Dance.
Ahead of the Easter weekend, South Western Ambulance is asking people to only dial 999 in a life-threatening emergency. They say to avoid extra pressure on the NHS, people should choose carefully the healthcare they need, as calling 101 for advice is often more appropriate than dialling 999.
North Street Road in Ilminster is shut today and will stay closed until Thursday this week for Wessex Water to carry out essential repairs. The closure runs from Ile Court to the junction with Cornhill.

The conservation charity, the RSPB, says the number of Starlings visiting gardens in Somerset has fallen dramatically. A survey has shown that Starling numbers this year are at their lowest level since records began in 1962.
A road in Chard is to be shut for 10 weeks for improvements to be carried out at Chard Reservoir. A new ‘wave wall’ is being built to reduce the risk of the reservoir over-spilling and flooding nearby properties. Somerset Council says Chaffcombe Lane will shut for 10 weeks from April 28th. Pedestrian access will remain open, as will access to the Anglers’ car park.
