Yeovil 0 – 2 Aldershot

    Tom Knowles

Yeovil Town fell to a defeat at home at the hands of Aldershot Town in Charlie Lee’s first home fixture in interim charge.

Despite dominating for vast spells of the game, Yeovil didn’t do enough to test Ethan Ross throughout.

At the other end, Aldershot struck two goals in quick succession in the second half to take the three points back to Hampshire.

Charlie Lee made two switches from last week’s trip to King’s Lynn. Jordan Barnett returned to the fold at left-back with Morgan Williams dropped to the bench. Alex Bradley began in place of the suspended Matt Worthington.

The visitors enjoyed an early spell of possession but it was the Glovers who were making the chances. The first fell with six minutes played as Reuben Reid laid the ball into the path of Tom Knowles on the right, he jinxed beyond his marker and slammed an effort against the upright.

Just three minutes later, Knowles turned provider for Reid who found himself with space to shoot at the edge of the box but his effort was wayward.

The half continued in a similar vein, with Town’s best chance falling in the 25th minute. Lo-Everton and Neufville combined brilliantly to release the Watford loanee. He then attempted to dink the ball over Ethan Ross, however, the ball dropped wide of the post.

Despite dominating the half, Town didn’t force the issue enough with the score level at the break.

The second half began with added impetus from the Glovers, who had three valid penalty shouts waved away within the first 15 minutes of the half.

Knowles, who was Town’s biggest threat. Just beyond the hour mark, he drilled the ball across the goal to Lo-Everton who was denied a certain goal through a heroic block.

Against the run of play, Aldershot struck ahead with 65 minutes on the clock. After a foul by Luke Wilkinson, Giles Phillips turned home the deep free-kick to take the lead.

Moments later, Ryan Glover added Aldershot’s second as he turned the ball home at the back-post.

Following the goal, there was a lengthy delay due to a medical emergency in the away section.

In response to the goals, Lee brought on both D’Ath and Wakefield, but they struggled to have the creative impact the interim manager desired.

Despite 12 minutes of injury time, the Glovers were unable to find a way back into the game with the Glovers falling to a defeat.
