    Great Western Railway has been explaining why a new car park at Castle Cary railway station will close in the New Year just a few weeks after it opened. The car park, which can accommodate up to 200 vehicles, opened last week but will shut in January for 10 weeks for work to complete building the car park. 

    llchester Football Club says flood damage caused by last week’s heavy downpours means its pitch won't be safe to play on until after Christmas. The club says it's having to pay to play at other venues to keep its fixtures going.

    Somerset's Activity and Sports Partnership have launched a new app to support men's mental well-being. Users are provided with help and put in touch with support groups and events happening in the county. 

    A business in Ilchester has launched a fundraising appeal to raise 50 thousand pounds following last week’s heavy rain storms. The premises of Paws and Claws Pet Services suffered extensive flooding. The business says it urgently needs financial help to pay for repairs to the premises.

    Ilminster has returned to the tradition of having a Christmas tree in the town centre. The last time a Christmas tree was displayed outside the Market House was 20 years ago.
