Yeovil MP Marcus Fysh is investigating complaints about two-week delays in delivering the post in Yeovil. Plans to convert a Yeovil pub into a school have been turned down. A Crewkerne couple, whose name is Mr and Mrs White-Christmas say after three years together they've got used to people poking fun at their name...and more.

Yeovil MP Marcus Fysh is investigating problems with postal deliveries in the town. It follows claims that mail is arriving up to two weeks after it should at some addresses, with important letters like medical appointments arriving too late. Royal Mail says it’s committed to improving the quality of its services in Yeovil, but union leaders claim the post is not being delivered on time due to staff shortages.

Plans have been passed to build a new diagnostics centre, providing more than 70,000 tests and outpatient appointments at Yeovil Hospital. It will be located next to the main hospital at Higher Kingston, with building work due to start in February.

Plans to change a popular Yeovil pub into a school have been turned down. Education provider, Five Rivers Child Care Ltd, had wanted to convert the Great Lyde pub on Lyde Road into a school for children with special educational needs and disabilities. One reason given by planners for the refusal was that the Great Lyde was the only pub, within reasonable walking distance of local residents

The UK’s only couple called Mr and Mrs White-Christmas, who live in Crewkerne, say the festive season is their trickiest time of the year. Kieran White and Tilly Christmas married in November 2020 and became Britain’s first couple with the name White-Christmas. They say December is difficult because when they book a meal or order takeaway, restaurants don't believe their name is for real.
