Plans have been submitted to build 30 new homes in Ashill. MJL Holdings wants to develop land off Windmill Hill Lane, next to the village recreation ground. The developer has pledged more than £83,000 for a new public open space and £18,000 towards local NHS facilities, if the scheme goes ahead. Somerset Council is expected to decide the application before Christmas.

Police have charged a 53-year-old man with assault following a disturbance outside Wetherspoons in Yeovil.
