    An inquest has been told that gaps were left in the medical assessment of a local man who died after falling out of bed at Yeovil Hospital. Edwin Price, aged 73, suffered an abdominal bleed in the fall and died several weeks later. The inquest found that a falls risk assessment for Mr Price was left incomplete when he was admitted to Yeovil Hospital.

    A victim of the Post Office Horizon IT scandal who lives in Wincanton is hoping a new exhibition about what happened will stop big organisations from thinking they can mistreat people. Tracey Merritt was one of more than 900 sub-postmasters wrongly convicted of stealing money from the Post Office when the problem was caused by faulty software. The exhibition is currently on at the Postal Museum in London.

    .A Red Kite, rescued from a rubbish skip, is being cared for at Secret World Wildlife charity in Somerset. The bird became trapped inside the skip and only managed to fly out when it was being emptied. 

    NHS Somerset says a new dental practice in Wellington will be accepting NHS patients from October. The new practice will operate from premises on the Lowmoor Industrial Estate in Wellington. 

    A Yeovil care home is marking a decade of service today. Cooksons Court, part of the Somerset Care Group, welcomed its first resident on September 19, 2015. Since then, the home has supported more than 2,200 residents with residential, nursing, dementia, and respite care.

    Somerset Council is offering grant funding to businesses aimed at reducing emissions and lowering energy costs. The Green Business Grant, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, is giving grants of up to £15,000 to help businesses reduce their carbon footprint.
