10,000 incidents of potholes on Somerset’s roads have been reported to Somerset Council in the past four weeks; that’s up from around 2,000 during the same period last year. The Council says they’re getting on top of the situation but that for the moment some potholes are being fixed on a temporary basis only.

The Met Office is warning of more unsettled weather into March as Somerset’s Flood Emergency is downgraded. It’s published data showing that since Christmas rain fall on Exmoor was double what it would normally be at this time of year.

The first phase of the electric vehicle battery plant being built near Bridgwater has been completed. Agratas, owned by TATA who build Jaguar Land Rovers, have used 23,000 tonnes of steel to create the structure.

Horton Cross Nursing Home near Ilminster has been rated good by the Care Quality Commission after earlier being told it "required improvement". Horton Cross was given an overall rating of good following an inspection by the CQC in early January.

Ben Marrow has been appointed as new Business Partner to run the Masons Arms in Odcombe by owners Hall and Woodhouse. Ben started his career working as a waiter at Hall & Woodhouse, working his way up to manager after only two years with the business.

The B3162 Crowshute link in Chard will close for eight nights next month for road repairs. The closure will take effect from Wednesday, March 4th, for eight evenings, between 6.30pm and 11.30pm, excluding the weekend. Somerset Council ask that no vehicles are left parked on the road while its closed. Pedestrian access for residents will be maintained for the duration of the works.

Planners have approved a change of use on an industrial unit at 3, Armoury Road, in Yeovil to a martial arts school. Infinity Martial Arts say the site is gated with private access, and has 20 parking spaces for the use of clients.
