    Plans have been submitted to turn a property on Preston Road in Yeovil into a House in Multiple Occupation. If approved, number 35 Preston Road would include eight bedrooms, a communal kitchen, living space, and a laundry room.

    A South Petherton man has been charged with drink-driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, and exceeding the speed limit. Darren Wines, aged 37, of Lightgate in South Petherton, is due to appear at Yeovil Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, May 20.

    Work will begin in June on a £4 million road safety scheme at a Somerset accident blackspot. The junction at Whitnell Corner, near Wells, will be replaced with a new roundabout at the meeting point of the B3139 and the B3135. Over the past 20 years, there have been 67 collisions at the site, including one fatal crash in 2019.

    A new public park in Crewkerne has been officially named. The open space, part of the Wool Gardens development, will be known as Oak Tree Park.
