    Police are investigating the theft of a motorbike in Ilminster. The machine was taken from a parking bay in Station Road on Monday night earlier this week. It was later found abandoned in Winterhay Lane after having been set on fire. Police are treating the incident as arson. If you know who stole the bike, please call the non-emergency number 101.

    A Somerset cheese company has changed its name. Norseland Limited, based in Ilchester, has reverted to its original name, The Ilchester Cheese Company. The business, which employs 175 people, says it wanted to reconnect with its heritage and the local community.

    Tributes have been paid to Cecil Irwin, the former Yeovil Town player-manager, who has died aged 83. Cecil joined the Glovers in 1972 when they were in the Southern League. Before Yeovil, he played for Sunderland, where he was credited with changing the role of the full-back. 

    A Somerset woman who had to re-learn how to walk after cancer treatment is in with a chance of representing Team GB at the Paralympics in 2028. Charly Andrew was diagnosed with a rare type of bone cancer aged 16, with surgeons removing a tumour in her pelvis to save her life. 

    The Avon and Somerset force has recruited six new police dogs: four specialist dogs and two search dogs.

    Town criers from across the South West will be in Yeovil tomorrow, competing for the loudest voice in the Yeovil Town Crier Competition 2025. The competition will take place in the town centre and begin at 11 a.m.
