A care provider in Yeovil says patients are not being given medication or support when they need it due to ongoing roadworks, delaying carers in traffic. Several of the town’s routes have been closed over recent weeks - some for essential maintenance, including the upgrading of a mains gas pipe. Dominic Cole from Heartfelt Care says the impact is even affecting hospital patients.

Local MP Adam Dance says he's working with the authority to improve communication to prepare residents but also better spread out works in future. Somerset Council say they hope to reopen Hendford Hill by close of play today.

A tractor has been completely destroyed, after its trailer of silage burst into flames yesterday afternoon. Fire crews were called to the A371 near Wincanton at around 2.45pm and despite their best efforts, the eight tonnes of burning grass left the vehicle irreparable.

A Stoke Sub Hamdon pharmacist says he’s aware of what’s described as vaccine fatigue, with constant reminders to get protected from viruses including flu and covid. But Mike Hewitson says that with the NHS facing more pressure than ever, it's still important and that there’s the opportunity for everyone to be vaccinated if they want.

And the carts roll into Ilminster tomorrow night, with carnival season well underway in the county. The town is expecting thousands of people to attend, with the evening procession of illuminated carts starting at 7.15pm. The route goes through the centre of Ilminster before making its way along East Street, into Market Square, onto Silver Street and Station Road, and finishes near the Stonemasons pub.
