The Leader of Yeovil Town Council is calling on the public to treat the town centre with more respect. Councillor Andy Soughton says he’s been sickened seeing the newly-laid pavement slabs in the High Street and Middle Street blackened by cigarette ends, drink and food stains. He says the thoughtless actions of just a few, are under-minding the Council’s efforts through the Refresh project to improve the appearance of the town centre.

Somerset Waste Partnership is asking householders not put blister packs or, pill packets as they’re called, out for recycling. They say the packs are a cause of cross contamination with other waste items and are putting handlers at risk. They say blister packs should be taken for safe disposal to a local pharmacy.

Somerset Council has launched a public consultation into the future of the county’s pharmaceutical services. They’re asking the public for their thoughts and experiences of using the pharmacy service, in an online survey. The results of the consultation will be used to evaluate whether Somerset’s pharmaceutical services adequately meet the county’s needs.

Police are appealing for witnesses to a crash involving a learner motorcyclist near Ilminster. It happened when the rider skidded on mud and was thrown from his machine, while travelling through the village of Sea, on Monday night at around 10 pm. If you can help or have dashcam footage you’re asked to please call the non-emergency number 101.
