    Yeovil Town Council is to use funds saved by not staging events during the pandemic to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next year. A campaign’s been launched to have a museum dedicated to the history of Yeovil permanently opened in the town centre.     Yeovil Town Council is to use funds saved by not staging events during the pandemic to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next year. Her majesty will mark 70-years as British Monarch in February. The Town Council plans celebratory events, including Music in the Park, over the four-day Bank Holiday weekend beginning June 2nd to mark the occasion.

    A campaign’s been launched to have a museum dedicated to the history of Yeovil permanently opened in the town centre. Local historian, Bob Osborn has started a petition in support of putting on public display the vast collection of artifacts about the history of Yeovil that have been stored in a lock-up at Lufton since the Museum of South Somerset at Hendford Manor closed in 2011.

    A woman in Chilthorne Domer has pleaded guilty to damaging a glass panel door belonging to Kentucky Fried Chicken. Nina Griffin of Forts Orchard was ordered to pay damages to KFC of £522 by magistrates in Taunton.

    A Martock woman is celebrating 30-years as a volunteer with the Guide Dogs charity. Iris Chapple has trained dozens of guide dogs, getting them used to busy environments and different social settings. 

    The Duke of Edinburgh's Award has launched a special fundraising challenge to mark what would have been the Duke's 100th birthday. Heather Thompson from the D of E awards in Somerset is hoping lots of young people will take up the new challenge.
