Leonardo Helicopters in Yeovil is planning a future in which it will build unmanned aircraft. The company says drone technology offers great opportunities for the Yeovil factory and that it intends to fully exploit those opportunities. Managing Director, Nick Whitney, says before they move to the next stage, they will need the support of an order from the British government.

Police are investigating an attempted robbery in Chard. It happened in Mitchell Gardens at around 9.30 pm on Tuesday night when a man was grabbed by another man who demanded money. Anyone who can help the police is asked to call the non-emergency number 101.

A care home in Yeovil which has been empty for three years could become a homeless shelter. The proposed change of use of Acacia Lodge on Hendford Hill has been submitted by the Bournemouth Churches Housing Association. South Somerset District Council now has to decide if the change of use should be granted.

A campaign’s been launched in Ilminster for a better bus service. In particular, campaigners are asking for a bus that runs between the town and Yeovil Hospital. Somerset County Council says it’s looking at adding an extra return journey to/from Ilminster on the number-30 service but has not yet done so due to the pandemic.

A building previously used for a community centre in Yeovil is to be demolished. Monmouth Hall was built in 1960 and is now be flattened because it no longer has a purpose and is in a poor state of repair.
