    Somerset Waste Partnership is warning of delays collecting household and business waste after Christmas. Somerset County Council is asking people to stay safe and be sensible this Christmas. A partnership in which firefighters work with ambulance crews in Somerset has been extended. An 11-year old girl from Somerset has become the first patient in the country to have a blockage removed in her kidney using special 3D equipment and a lost episode of the Morecombe and Wise TV Show has been found at a house in North Dorset.

    Somerset Waste Partnership is warning of delays collecting household and business waste after Christmas. SWP is coping with staff absences due to Covid, a situation that it fears is likely to worsen during early January.

    Somerset County Council is asking people to stay safe and be sensible this Christmas. Covid infection rates locally have increased in recent days. The County Council says anyone needing help should call the Coronavirus Hotline on 0300 790 6275

    A partnership in which firefighters work with ambulance crews in Somerset has been extended. Since the start of the pandemic, the fire service has been working with South Western Ambulance. With the winter pressure now on the NHS, together with a surge in Omicron cases, the arrangement will continue to operate for a further six months.

    An 11-year old girl from Somerset has become the first patient in the country to have a blockage removed in her kidney using special 3D equipment. By using 3D imaging, which is usually used for brain surgery, surgeons at the Bristol Children’s Hospital were able to get a better view of the problem and perform the operation faster, and with greater accuracy. 

    A lost episode of the Morecombe and Wise TV Show has been found at a house in North Dorset. It was filmed in 1970 and is being shown over Christmas on ITV. Eric Morecambe's son, Gary, who lives near Bruton, says he found the film in his mother’s attic.
