Work updating the look of Chard town centre will start in the Spring, according to local Mayor, Jason Baker. The two-million-pound face-lift includes improvements to the Guildhall, the provision of new pavement and seated areas, and the planting of more trees. Councillor Jason Baker, says as a place to visit, Chard town centre will be much improved.

A Martock woman has appeared in court charged with assault. Emily Pounde, of Somerset Close, in Martock, was given 80 hours of unpaid work and a restraining order after being found guilty of the charge. She told to pay £100 in compensation with costs by magistrates in Yeovil.

The application to South Somerset District Council from Chilton Cantelo Estates Ltd is for a change of use from a private educational facility to offices to accommodate 34 workers.

A top award has been given to the South Somerset Visitor Information Centre. The TIC at Cartgate off the A303 has won Gold in the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards 2020-2021 for the excellence in the service it provides.
