A ban on e-scooters on trains and at stations in South Somerset has come into force. South Western Railway has imposed the ban, which impacts on Yeovil Junction and Crewkerne stations, due to safety concerns around the potential for lithium batteries fitted to e-scooters to overheat. The ban also applies to e-unicycles, e-skateboards and hoverboards
Somerset Council is looking for more volunteers to help young people in the County. The Council is aiming to recruit people to support children in care and to work with the Youth Justice Team.
The Royal Bath and West Show enters its second day today. The good weather yesterday attracted big crowds to the Shepton Mallet showground where the best of British agriculture and farming is being displayed.
A Chard motorist has been fined two-hundred-and-seventy-six pounds after being caught driving at sixty-nine miles per hour in a thirty zone. Oscar Webb of Ashcroft in Chard pleaded guilty to driving at twice the speed limit on the A358 at Henlade when he appeared before local magistrates.
Former Lib Dem MP and government minister, Vince Cable, is the main speaker today at the Ilminster Literary Festival. The festival runs to next Thursday 8th June with former British Diplomat, Simon McDonald one of the other headline speakers.
Yeovil Town forward Callum Harriott has had his contract with the club terminated by mutual agreement. Harriott, who only joined the Glovers in March, made three appearances and scored one goal.
