People in Chard could soon have to travel as far away as Wellington to receive dental treatment following the closure of two dental practices in the town. My Dentist on Fore Street closes today and Chard House Dental Practice on Leach Road closes on April 30th. The Somerset Integrated Care Board say they’re trying to secure more NHS dental provision in Chard but in the short term, the closest NHS practice for patients in Chard to use is in Wellington.

Motorists in Yeovil are being warned of three road closures in the town centre. The High Street, Hendford and the Borough will be shut to traffic from April 11th to the end of the year for work on the Yeovil Refresh programme. Apart from vehicles not being able to use the High Street, Hendford and the Borough, access to the taxi rank in Silver Street will be via Middle Street, and Blue badge parking in High Street will no longer be available.

Yeovil MP Marcus Fysh says plans to turn the A303 Ilminster bypass into a dual carriageway have moved a step closer. Mr Fysh was speaking following a meeting with National Highways at which he was told that dualling the Ilminster bypass was scheduled to start following the completion of the dualling of the A303 between Sparkford and Ilchester and widening the A358.

The 10,000 people in Somerset with dementia and their families are being invited to a series of roadshows in the county to find out more about a new dementia support service. The service has been launched by the NHS, council and charities.

Yeovil Town are repeating their cut-price ticket offer to fans for tomorrow’s National League game against Southend United at Huish Park. General admission tickets have been discounted to £10 with students, armed forces personnel, 17-to-21-year-olds and pensioners paying £5 and children just £1. The game against Southend which is being televised kicks off at 5.20 pm.
