Somerset has been left off a list of places in the UK where a drought has been declared. However, the County’s main water provider, Wessex Water, is asking people to continue using water responsibly and to conserve supplies as much as possible. Meanwhile, farmers in Somerset say they’re struggling in the current conditions even if, technically, the County has not been designated a drought area.

The RSPCA in Somerset is asking people to put out fresh water in their gardens for wildlife as temperatures stay high this week. They say due to the hard ground, burrowing animals are having difficulty finding water.

The former Honda garage in Addlewell Lane in Yeovil has been put up for sale. It includes a car showroom, car park, garage and offices. The property is advertised with the potential to convert to residential, subject to planning permission.

Somerset's Carnival season gets underway in just over four weeks with the first procession at South Petherton on Saturday the 10th of September. Carnival organisers say they’d like as many community organisations as possible to be involved.

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance is looking for people to take part in a night-time fun run next month. Called the Twilight Run, it takes place around Henstridge Airfield on Saturday the 24th of September.
