    Local MP Chris Loder is calling for speed cameras to be introduced on the A30 dual carriageway between Yeovil and Sherborne. The MP for West Dorset wants cameras added to the eastbound carriageway, describing the stretch as an "unofficial racetrack". His comments follow an increase in accidents on the A30 between Yeovil and Sherborne.

    The Federation of Independent Retailers – who have members in Yeovil - is calling on the government to provide grants to small businesses to install increased security measures. The group, which represents stores like newsagents and off licences, says shopkeepers are fearing for their lives because of an increase in theft and violence. 

    People in Somerset are recycling more of their waste than ever before. Somerset Council says fifty-six percent of what we throw away at home is now being recycled with only half of household waste going to landfill compared to last year. 

    A Somerset group that supports families of children with additional needs has received a grant of three-hundred-and-eighty-six thousand pounds from the National Lottery. The money will enable the Somerset Parent Carer Forum to run more peer-to-peer support groups.

    A footpath in Ilminster is closed for five days from today. It’s to allow Wessex Water to carry out works to make a connection to a water main under the footpath off Jordans Road.

    Plans have been approved to convert a disused barn into a residential dwelling in Winsham. A two-bed unit will be created from the single-storey outbuilding on Ammerham Lane.
