A man and a teenage boy have been arrested following a number of assaults in Yeovil. Police say the four separate incidents in the early hours of Saturday took place in Reckleford, outside the Cineworld complex, at Pen Mill railway station and in St Michael's Avenue. Five people were injured with four of them needing hospital treatment. Police are appealing for information and if you can help you’re asked to call the non-emergency number 101.

The main A3088 Cartgate Link in Yeovil is again shut to traffic today up to 7 pm tonight. The road closed for five days last week and was re-opened at the weekend. It will now stay shut until Friday when work removing diseased trees from the side of the carriageway is due to be completed.

A Yeovil town centre pub has closed just two months after it reopened. The Globe and Crown on South Street shut last year but then reopened in early December. The pub has confirmed the closure on Facebook and says it will not be re-opening again.

The go-ahead has been given to convert a former hotel building in Wincanton town centre to residential use. A Festival of Light is taking place in Wincanton this week. The event features light displays themed around sustainability and is on in the town until Saturday.
