    It’s been revealed that more than thirteen thousand crimes, including violent and sexual offences, went unrecorded across the Avon and Somerset Police force area last year. The figure is contained in a report from His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary which say the Avon and Somerset force requires urgent improvement in the way it investigates crimes. 

    A Yeovil man has pleaded guilty to killing a woman pedestrian and injuring two others after crashing a stolen car at Mosterton. Shane Bovey, aged 40, of Monmouth Road, was appearing at Bournemouth Crown Court charged with death by dangerous driving and unlawful taking of a vehicle in connection with an incident on the A3066 at Mosteron in early February. Bovey is due to return to court for sentencing in May.

    A house on Stiby Road in Yeovil has been damaged by fire. The blaze broke out in the kitchen of the property at lunchtime on Saturday. No one was hurt.

    Seven million pounds is being spent buying homes for refugees in Somerset. The thirty properties are being purchased with funds provided by the government and Somerset County Council. 

    Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was involved in a collision on the A30 near Cricket St Thomas. It happened at around 1 pm on Saturday when the rider of a silver Honda received serious injuries and had to be airlifted to hospital. If you saw what happened or have dashcam footage of the collision or the motorbike in the moments before the crash, please call the non-emergency number 101.

    A Somerset Army veteran has won a place in the GB Wheelchair Rugby Team at this year’s Invictus Games. Jules Allen, who lives in Curry Rivel, suffered a life-changing spinal injury taking part in an armed combat display when he was 17. Jules, who's now 42, says it’ll be his third Invictus Games and is looking forward to returning home with a winner’s medal.

    A road sign in Yeovil with the name Sherborne wrongly spelt with a 'U' is to be quickly replaced. Somerset County Council says a new sign with Sherborne spelt without a U has been ordered to replace the incorrect sign in Reckleford where contractors are building a new bus pull-in.
