The joint owner of Yeovil Town Stuart Robins says he’s close to agreeing on a takeover of the Club. His comments follow rising concerns expressed by Yeovil fans about a lack of investment in new players and a run of poor results that have seen the Glovers fall into the relegation zone in the National League. It’s believed a group of investors based in Jersey will become the new owners at Huish Park.

Several schools in Somerset are set to face disruption on Thursday this week as teachers go on strike. The action’s been called by the National Education Union (NEU) in their row with the government over pay and school funding. The government said it will talk with the union if they call off the strike. The union says it will only join in with talks if there are no "pre-conditions". Schools in our area that will be affected by Thursday’s strike are:

    • Ashlands First School in Crewkerne that will be fully closed.
    • Huish Episcopi Academy at Langport that will only be open to Years 11, 12 and 13 students.
    • Ilchester Community School in Ilchester that will be open to children in receipt of Free School Meals only.

An inquest has found police didn't take all the required steps to locate a missing teenager from Yeovil who died from a drugs overdose. 16-year-old, Reece Murphy, died in 2018.

Passengers planning to travel between Yeovil Penn Mill and Dorchester are being reminded that no trains will be running between the two stations today and for the next two weeks. It’s due to Network Rail carrying out track maintenance up to 10th March. The disruption applies to services between Yeovil Penn Mill and Dorchester Monday to Friday with weekend services running as normal.
