Avon and Somerset's Police and Crime Commissioner, Mark Shelford is urging people to be extra careful shopping for Black Friday deals. Figures show £15.3 million was lost to scams during the run-up to Christmas last year.

A Wincanton woman has appeared in court charged with assault. Charlotte Dibble of the High Street was accused of assaulting a man in Sherborne in April. She was fined £237 and made the subject of a restraining order.

Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision in Yeovil involving a Ford Focus and a van in which the van driver suffered a broken foot. It happened in Sherborne Road on Sunday, October 16th, at around 1.25 pm. They’re asking anyone who witnessed the incident, or has dash cam footage, to call the non-emergency number 101.

There's a chance to have your say on the response to flooding in Somerset in the future. Wessex Water is looking for three people to join its Regional Flood and Coastal Committee to oversee its flood and coastal erosion plans. The roles are voluntary and will also be responsible for approving the Environment Agency's national flood response plans.

A Somerset woman has been paid £1,000 in compensation for a delay that meant she was unable to use the bathroom in her home. The woman, who has not been named, was also prevented from accessing her kitchen after an assessment of her needs was made an occupational therapist was then delayed for over a year. In a statement, Somerset County Council said the well-being of our residents is its top priority but, on this occasion, they failed to get it right.
