    Plans have been submitted to increase the number of car parking spaces at Castle Cary railway station. The new parking area would be built on land next to the station and include a bank of electric vehicle charging points.

    Work has started on the second phase of improvements to Chard town centre, focusing on the renovation of historic shop fronts and buildings in the town’s conservation area. Properties included for improvement are Barron’s menswear shop and Baptist Chapel on Holyrood Street.

    Avon and Somerset Police say they're aiming to install around one hundred and fifty 'bleed kits' across the force area by the end of this year. ‘Bleed kits’ allow members of the public to help someone who's been stabbed by giving emergency first aid to stop blood loss until paramedics arrive.

    Somerset Council say they're one step closer to allowing thousands of new homes to be built after a trial reduced phosphate levels in wastewater by ninety-eight per cent. The new system was tested at the Fivehead Wastewater Treatment plant to meet the environmental standards for further developments. 

    Visitors to Somerset are being reminded to think twice before dialling 999 this summer. The South Western Ambulance Service is asking people to take ten basic steps to avoid getting into trouble including understanding basic CPR and knowing where to find the closest pharmacy

    The search is on for old home movie footage of Yeovil railway station. It’s for a new heritage film about the Yeovil to Taunton rail line that closed in the 1960s being compiled by local filmmaker, Phil Lilley. 

    Yeovil Town ended their run of pre-season friendlies at the weekend drawing 1-1 away to Plymouth Parkway. Jake Hyde netted for the Glovers on twenty-nine minutes. Yeovil were reduced to ten in the second half after Morgan Williams was given a red card with Plymouth only managing to equalize in stoppage time.
