South Somerset District Council is hoping to set up a community led electric car club. It's started a survey asking people how often they'd need to use the cars and if they'd also be interested in an electric bike share scheme for shorter trips. It comes ahead of the government's ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in 2030.

A man found with serious injuries in Manor Road in Yeovil last Tuesday has died in hospital.
He was Radoslaw Lewandowski, aged 22.
Police are continuing with their inquiries but say his death is not being treated as suspicious.

The search is on to find the Castle Cary Jubilee Fountain. The monument was installed at the Horsepond to mark Queen Victoria’s Jublilee in 1897 but replaced by a War Memorial some years later. Organisers of celebrations to mark the Queen’s Jubilee next year in Castle Cary would like to see Fountain back on display in the town. They believe it could be in a local garden. If you know where the Caste Cary Jubilee Fountain can be found, please contact the Town Council with the details

Police have thanked a member of the public for spotting a stolen mini digger at Tintinhull. The machine that had been taken in a raid at South Petherton was found concealed in a hedge. Police say public help of this kind is assisting them greatly in cutting rural crime.

This year’s Petherton Folk Festival has fallen victim to the pandemic. Chairman of the Festival committee, Pete Wheeler, said they had to cancel the event due to not being able to provide a safe environment but that planning for the festival next year was already underway.
