A resident's group has won the support of Yeovil Town Council to stop a former care home from being converted to a hostel for homeless people. Bournemouth Churches Housing Association wants to shut their hostel on Newton Road in Yeovil town centre and transfer the business to the former Acacia Lodge care home building on Hendford Hill. The ‘Hands Off Hendford Hill Residents’ Group’ say getting the backing of Yeovil Town councillors has boosted their campaign. South Somerset District Council is due to make a final decision on the planning application within the next few months.

Local numbers of Covid cases have fallen according to Somerset’s Director of Public Health Trudi Grant. She says, however, that a "good proportion" of the reduction is due to changes in how people are tested, rather than an actual drop in infection.

Leonardo Helicopters in Yeovil have signed up as the main tenant of the new I-aero building on Bunford Lane in Yeovil, next to the main Leonardo’s site. The aim of I-aero is to become a ‘centre of excellence’ with aerospace companies from across the Southwest having offices within the building.

Opposition is growing to sheds being built on the Dillington estate near Ilminster for local carnival clubs to build floats. Chairman of Seavington Parish Council, Ian Loxton, claims the roads around the Dillington Estate are unsuitable to handle large Carnival floats.

Work is to start soon replacing damaged play equipment in Bruton. South Somerset District Council has given £12,500 towards paying for the upgrade at Jubilee Park.
