Plans have been outlined to build four hundred new homes in IIminster. Land in the Herne Valley has been identified for the scheme by developers Persimmon Homes who say a formal planning application will be submitted to Somerset Council before the end of the year.

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage of a road traffic accident in Sherborne where a child was seriously injured. It happened on Monday afternoon when an Audi A5 in which the child was a passenger and a concrete mixer collided in Bradford Road, close to the Oxley Leisure Centre. If you can help, you’re asked to call the non-emergency number 101.

A consultation on plans to close railway ticket offices has been extended. The Rail Delivery Group says the consultation will now continue until September. Yeovil, Castle Cary and Sherborne stations could lose their ticket offices if the proposal goes ahead.

Police are asking for the public’s help in tracing the person or persons responsible for spraying a swastika on a post box in the village of Tatworth, near Chard. The incident in Drakes Crescent is being treated as criminal damage. If you can help, you’re asked to call the non-emergency number 101.

Chard Museum is running an event today celebrating the town’s aviation heritage. It’s being held at Chard Reservoir with those attending flying model aircraft and discovering why Chard is the ‘Home of Powered Flight’.
