A Somerset cheese producer says the new Prime Minister will need to provide more reassurance about the economy before he starts to re-invest in developing his business. Managing Director at Wyke Farms near Bruton, Richard Clothier has said that what the businesses sector needs is a return to stability.

Police across the West have joined together to target people who use drugs on nights out. ‘Operation Scorpion’ is a joint operation between six forces, in a crackdown on the night-time economy. It's aimed at targeting drug users as well as dealers. So far 127 arrests have been made.

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a tractor that’s been stolen in South Petherton. It was taken from farmland last Friday, October 21st. It’s blue and bears the name Land Legend Dong Feng. It also has a loader and a 5ft topper attached.

An animal rescue centre in Somerset says about half the rescue dogs that it’s currently looking after were brought to them during lockdown. Director of St Giles Animal Centre, Jack Linnell says with living costs rising, the situation with abandoned dogs is likely to worsen.

The Head Gardener at Barrington Court near Ilminster is retiring after working there for 44 years. Christine Brain joined the team back in 1978 when the Lyle family owned the property. Barrington Court was later acquired by the National Trust which now runs it.
