    The South Western Ambulance Service says they're getting too many 999 calls for issues that aren't real emergencies and are asking the public to use 111 unless the situation is life-threatening or someone is injured.

    Yeovil Town has put on sale its new team shirt for the 2021-22 season. The shirts are in green with white sleeves and will be worn for the first time on Saturday when the Glovers host Forest Green Rovers in a pre-season friendly at Huish Park, kick-off 3 pm.     Fire crews have dealt with a bus fire in the village of Maperton. The bus was en-route to Wincanton when the blaze started in the engine compartment. It was quickly brought under control and no one was hurt.

    The Leader of Somerset County Council, David Fothergill, has written to the government to acknowledge the decision to collapse Somerset’s five existing councils and replace them with one council. Councillor Fotherghill has described the one council decision as a great opportunity to re-energise local government in Somerset.

    The government’s setting up a task force to tackle the problem of water pollution in Somerset. Plans for more than 11,000 new homes are on hold due to concerns about high levels of phosphates on the Somerset Levels. Environment Minister, Rebecca Pow, says her department is seeking a solution that will protect the environment while allowing for sustainable new housing development to resume.

    The Eastbury Hotel in Sherborne has been presented with a top award. Visit England has given the Eastbury ‘Gold’ status for the excellence of the service it provides to guests.
