Police have arrested a motorist on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs in Yeovil. The arrest followed police spot checks in Lyde Road, St Michael's Avenue and at Milford Dip as part of a campaign to reduce anti-social driving.

A new drug given to a Somerset boy to treat his medical condition has made it possible for him to try different food for the first time. Rhys has PKU, which means his body can’t process protein, so he mostly eats only fruit and veg. His mum, Gillian Taylor, says the drug could make it possible for Rhys to eat virtually any food that he wants.

The Red Dress, a global embroidery project that has taken 12 years to complete, has gone on display in Somerton. It was created with 200 people in 28 different countries contributing to its design, is currently on a world tour. The Red Dress can be viewed at the ACE Arts Centre in Somerton until the end of the month.

We're being asked to run, walk, swim or even dance one mile a day for St Margaret's Hospice. The charity has launched a new campaign to help fund sessions that help patients with their breathing. Those taking part can download a tracker with the aim of getting their names on the leader board.

Motorists in Chard are being advised of road works in Furnham Road and Mount Hindrance Lane for the rest of January. Somerset County Council says the roads are undergoing repairs that will last three weeks and that delays can be expected.
