    A town centre building in Yeovil, once used as a charity shop by the British Heart Foundation, could be demolished because it's unsafe. Police are appealing for witnesses to an accident involving a van and a pedestrian in Ilminster. A new campaign has been launched in Somerset to attract volunteers to work in the NHS.     A town centre building in Yeovil, once used as a charity shop by the British Heart Foundation, could be demolished because it's unsafe. The property in Middle Street is currently being supported by scaffolding that is impeding progress on work to regenerate the town centre. South Somerset District Council says lorries are unable to use Middle Street because of the scaffolding and that unless it is taken down along with the building the costs of the Yeovil Refresh Project will rise by a further £324,000.

    Police are appealing for witnesses to an accident involving a van and a pedestrian in Ilminster. It happened outside the Spar shop and garage on Station Road at around 5:15 pm on Tuesday the 10th of January. If you saw what happened or have dashcam footage you’re asked to call the police non-emergency number 101.

    A new campaign has been launched in Somerset to attract volunteers to work in the NHS. The roles include working in hospitals and also GP surgeries. Since the pandemic ended, eleven thousand volunteers, who helped deliver the vaccination rollout have gone on to work full-time in the NHS. 

    A Somerset woman has launched a fundraising appeal to help pay for her travel to the World Transplant Games in Australia.
    Keely John has won a place in Team GB at the games in Perth in April and needs to raise four thousand pounds to pay for the trip. 

    The new Bishop of Bath and Wells, the Right Reverend Michael Beasley has been speaking about his hopes for 2023. Bishop Michael became Head of the Bath and Wells diocese in November, having moved to live in Somerset from Hertford. He’s hoping that with the end of lockdown, that 2023 will see communities brought back together again.

    Yeovil Town are back in action tonight. They play Barnet away in a National League fixture, kick-off is at 7.45 pm.
