Plans have been approved for a giant solar farm between Yeovil and Sherborne. The site, spread over seven fields at Clifton Maybank near Bradford Abbas, will produce enough electricity to run 10,600 homes. A substation, access roads, and a two-metre security fence with CCTV monitoring will also be built.

Historic Sherborne House in Newlands, Sherborne, is set to become an arts and entertainment venue. Plans to use ground floor rooms for exhibitions, together with converting the second floor into offices, are expected to be approved later this week. The Tudor wings of the building would be transformed into a bistro and café.
