    Further details are expected shortly regarding the future ownership of Yeovil Town Football Club. In a statement, Club Chairman Scott Priestnall said he’d been in talks with various investors and had entered into a period of exclusivity with a preferred party about becoming a majority shareholder. However, Mr. Priestnall said speculation surrounding a takeover of the Club was, at this stage, premature.

    Rail passengers in Somerset planning to use GWR or South Western trains this week are being told to only travel if absolutely necessary. It's due to 5-days of national strike action by the RMT and ASLEF unions. 

    A new lower speed limit is being introduced in the village of Kingstone near Ilminster. It follows a campaign by local residents to have a 30-mile-per-hour limit imposed on traffic using Moolham Lane and Mill Lane. Somerset County Council says the new speed limit should be in place by April.

    Plans have been submitted to build a two-classroom extension at Manor Court Community Primary School in Chard. The single-storey extension would be built to the rear of Block B with a temporary classroom being demolished and the land grassed over to extend the school's playing field.

    A Somerset transport business is hoping that by increasing pay rates by almost 30 percent it will attract new drivers. Willmotts Transport in Shepton Mallet has been struggling with a driver shortage and is offering an above-average sector hourly rate in the hope of filling vacancies.

    People in Ilminster are being asked to help with a post-Christmas tidy-up of the town. The community litter pick organised by Green Ilminster is planned to take place this Sunday starting from outside the Repair Shop on Silver Street at 2 pm. 

    Dr. Jane Townson from Somerton has been awarded an OBE in the New Year’s Honours. Dr. Townson is the CEO of the Homecare Association.
