    Numatic in Chard has begun demolishing buildings on the former Oscar Mayer site. The makers of the Henry vacuum cleaner bought the former ready meals factory in May after Oscar Mayer moved production out of Chard. Numatic says it’s investing £30 million in creating a new production facility to make the full range of Henry vacuum cleaners at the site on Furnham Road.

    The leader of Somerset County Council says it's imperative they fill roles in the care sector in the County. The council’s launched an urgent appeal asking people to fill care vacancies in the midst of a national staffing crisis. Meanwhile, research by the Carers’ Centre shows 80% of unpaid carers don’t ask for help even though they might need it. They're encouraging people in a caring role to ask for support more often. 

    A former resident of Ilton has been jailed after pleading guilty to numerous assault charges. Appearing at Exeter Crown Court. Jack Reid, was sentenced to three years on two counts of causing actual bodily harm, two of criminal damage, and one of threatening behavior.

    St Margaret's Hospice has launched a new recruitment campaign. The organisation says it lost supporters during the pandemic and urgently needs to enrol new volunteers to maintain services. 

    Billie Eilish has been confirmed as one of the headliners for next year's Glastonbury festival. The 19-year-old will perform on the Pyramid stage on the Friday night becoming the festival's youngest ever solo headliner. 

    Yeovil Town are in action tonight. The Glovers are playing Maidenhead United in a National League fixture at Huish Park, kick-off at 7.45 pm.
