Police say three people remain in custody on suspicion of attempted murder after a car collided with a man in Yeovil. The man was taken to hospital following the alleged incident in St Patrick’s Road at around 3.30 pm on Sunday. Police say his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. If you witnessed the collision you are asked to call the police non-emergency number 101.

A motorhome has been destroyed by fire at Langport. It happened at Pibsbury at around 9 am yesterday. No one was hurt but the driver was given oxygen to help with his breathing after inhaling smoke. And a woman driver has been freed from a vehicle by the fire service following a road traffic accident at Horsington, near Templecombe. It happened close to the Half Moon pub at round half-past-six on Sunday evening.

A food bank in Chard is urgently in need of new premises for it to continue operating. During lockdown, the food bank has used the South Chard Church as a base for distributing free food parcels but with the church about to re-open for services, new premises to work from are needed.

A Yeovil man who works as a volunteer at the Lord’s Larder food bank has been recognised for his outstanding services to the local community. Mat Callaghan was instrumental in raising £50,000 in food donations last year. A Purple Plaque Community Hero Award has been given to Matt by Census 2021.
