Late-night buses are to start running in Somerset but initially on major bus routes across the County only. The new evening services are part of efforts by Somerset County Council to increase passenger numbers using local buses.
NHS Somerset is looking to re-organise stroke services in the county. Four options are under consideration, including closing the hyper-acute stroke unit at Yeovil Hospital. A public consultation is expected in the New Year.
New grant funding is being offered to farmers on the Mendips to help lower their carbon footprint. Farmers are being given up to fifteen hundred pounds through the Mendip AONB's ‘Farming in Protected Landscape Scheme’ for a carbon audit to be carried out into their farming activities.
