Police are investigating a fire at a property in Bicknell Gardens in Yeovil. A man who suffered burn injuries in the blaze was later arrested on suspicion of being connected with the supply of Cannabis.
The owner of a pub in Longburton has criticized closing the main road through the village to repair a sewer. A 400-yard stretch of the A352 in Longburton has been for five days by Wessex Water. Becky Gibbons, who runs the Rose and Crown in Longburton is asking why the work wasn’t carried out when the road was shut for re-surfacing back in November and December. A two-way traffic light system is in operation and locals have been told that the same stretch of the A352 will shut again in July for further repair work.
Plans have been submitted to build a dining hall, classrooms and associated facilities to replace the old swimming pool building at Holyrood Academy in Zembard Lane in Chard. Improvements will also be made to the music block and staff room at the school if the plans are approved by South Somerset District Council. And, permission has been applied for to demolish two timber-clad temporary buildings and replace them with a single storey classroom extension at North Cadbury Church of England School.
