A business owner in Wincanton says it’s unfair that the energy price cap does not apply to businesses. Unlike domestic users who do benefit from the price cap, prices for energy supplied to businesses are not capped. Chris Ormrod, who runs the Flavour Works in Wincanton, says his bills have risen 400 percent in the last six months.

A Chard man who carried out armed robberies at two shops in Yeovil has been jailed for three-and-a-half years. Taunton Crown Court was told that Ragnar Potter of Furnham Road in Chard stole £400 in one raid and £320 in a second, together with £1,370 in tobacco. Potter pleaded guilty to both robberies that took place in November and December last year.

A Wincanton woman has been appointed an Ambassador with the Children's Society in the South West. In the role, Nicola King will represent the Diocese of Bath and Wells on behalf of St Peter and St Paul's Church in Wincanton. She says her main responsibility will be to get the work of the Society better understood.

An Ilminster businessman has taken over sponsorship of the Avon and Somerset Police Men’s football team. Duncan McKechnie, owner of Action Coach, will have his company branding on the front of the player’s shirts for the next two seasons.

Events are being held all this year to mark the 50th anniversary of the Mendip Hills being designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Mendip Hills were awarded AONB status in February 1972.
