Plans have been outlined to build up to 250 new homes at Yeovil Town’s Huish Park ground. Land zoned for training pitches would be used for the scheme if the go-ahead is given. South Somerset District Council has cleared the way for a formal planning application to be submitted, which could happen before the end of the year.

Parents are being asked to comment on the holiday dates proposed for schools in Somerset over the next two academic years. The County Council wants to know if parents support the suggested holiday dates for the academic years 2023-24 and 2024-25, including term dates, inset days, and teacher training days, when pupils stay at home. The consultation can be viewed on the Somerset County Council website, until March 17th.

Police found that Derek Jones of Honeylands in Curry Rivel was nearly twice over the drink drive limit when they stopped his vehicle. Jones, who pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol, was fined £440 and banned from driving for 18 months.

A man who lives in East Lambrook has appeared in court charged with dangerous driving. Magistrates in Yeovil were told that Dylan Simms was filmed on a mobile phone arguing with his girlfriend and then driving away while she was on the car bonnet. Simms pleaded guilty to the charge and was given a 16 weeks' suspended prison sentence and disqualified from driving for 12 months.

Yeovil Freewheelers Blood Bikes have been presented with a new motorbike. The BMW R1250 and costing £16,000 has been generously paid for by members of the Yeovil Lodge of Moose International.
