Plans have been approved for a new McDonald's just off the Southfields roundabout near Ilminster. The restaurant and drive-thru will be built off Jordan's Road, to the west of the Southfields roundabout on the A303. It’s expected to create up to sixty-five new jobs, as well as employ local builders during the construction phase.

Police have released a CCTV image of two men they'd like to speak to after a man was attacked with a hammer in Yeovil. The attack happened on Henford Hill last Friday, just after 8:30 in the morning. The man suffered facial fractures and lost some teeth. The CCTV footage can be viewed on the Avon and Somerset Police website.

Somerset's doing the best in the country for giving people with weakened immune systems all their Covid jabs. Fourteen-and-a-half thousand people are in the group, and all have now been offered four Covid doses.

People looking for work in Yeovil can now go to drop-in sessions for support. Employment Plus is run by the Salvation Army and can also help people with food banks and paying their bills.

Historic England has launched an Aerial Photography Explorer through which online maps, showing images of Somerset over the past 100 years, can be viewed. Historic England is hoping people will use the map to research the place where they live.
