A scheme to improve the appearance of Westminster Street in Yeovil town centre will begin in late June. The work, part of the Yeovil Refresh project, will see changes made to the pavement and road layout. Westminster Street that runs alongside the Nat West Bank will stay shut for about four months with diversions in operation.

Farmers in Somerset say they’re concerned about proposals to limit the movement of livestock. As part of a government review of animal transport rules, limits on journey times and animal exports for slaughter, together with transporting animals when temperatures are below 5 celsius, could be introduced.

A scheme pioneered in Somerset to help reduce hospital admissions is influencing how things are done nationally. The Somerset Intermediate Care Service helps support older people recover at home or return home more quickly after being admitted to hospital. Now, the business model is being used to help shape future government policy.

An online art auction is being held this week to raise money for Somerset Wildlife Trust. Graham Barton from the BBC TV show ‘Homes Under The Hammer’ will conduct the final bidding on Friday with all funds going towards work improving Somerset's environment.

We’re all being asked to fly the Somerset flag on Somerset Day this year. The event on Tuesday, May 11th is to celebrate all that’s good and best about the county, including Somerset’s heritage, its environment and food and drink. Anyone wanting to make a Somerset flag can do so by downloading printing instructions on the Somerset Day website.
